Parent Resource- Vocabulary

Parents,

Thanksgiving break is a great time to help build your kiddo's vocabulary. Often we expect kids to pick up on words just because we know them. But kids with developmental delays need many exposures to words before they truly know a word. It is hard for kids to pick up on words especially if they are only used seasonally. So take these moments to teach words like stuffing, mixer, bake, season, spices, cranberry sauce, uncle, aunt, cousins, pie, squash, hot, cold, counter, stove, oven, dining room, snow, chilly, and many more.
Remember anytime we build vocabulary knowledge we build literacy skills.

Let me know if you need ideas.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Ms. Tisher
