Adams Camp!!

 Parents!

If you haven't heard of Adams Camp, you are truly missing out. It is one of the wonderful treasures we have for kids with disabilities in Colorado.

Adams Camp is a summer camp where kids and families can develop lifelong friendships.

Adams camp runs week long programs for families that are completely based around a campers needs. There are physical therapists, speech therapists and more that work the camp each year with the sole goal of getting your child and family an opportunity to do things they haven't done before.  There are even opportunities for siblings to experience the camp and make friends with other kids that have similar families.

The sign up for Adams Camp is happening now! I encourage you to visit the website and check it out. The families that I know that have gone there have loved their experiences and become devoted campers every year. All kids and all disabilities are welcome!

Sensory Friendly playtime at the WOW Museum

Have you ever checked out the WOW Museum! It is a relaxed place where kids can play and touch everything.  Once a month they hold a sensory friendly day that is relaxed and calm. Great for kids who need a little less input.  The staff are very understanding of kids that communicate differently.  If you get a chance sign up an upcoming day.

Here is there website for more information: https://wowchildrensmuseum.org/visit/reopening/

Sensory Friendly Playtime

For some children with autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders, a visit to a museum like WOW! is difficult or overstimulating. In 2015, we launched Sensory Friendly Playtime, a low sensory event where children with autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders can explore the Museum without the noise, crowds, and stimulation of a typical day. We limit the number of families who can attend, turn down sounds and lights, and provide adaptive equipment such as noise reducing headphones and weighted vests. When available, occupational therapists or physical therapists are on hand to help facilitate activities, provide resources, and answer questions.

School house rock Performance- sensory friendly

The Lone Tree Arts Center is presenting on January 31, 2022

\

Our SF programming presents performances in a relaxed, sensory-friendly way. Performers will modify shows to ensure there are no startling noises or visually over-stimulating components. Our team keeps sound levels lower than normal and keeps the lights in the audience higher than normal, ensuring audience members can see each other. Audience members are free to come and go if need be (there is always a "safe room" available) and are asked to wave hands rather than clapping.

PLEASE NOTE: At the request of the artist, masks are required at this performance. You must wear a mask to enter the building and masks must be worn in all spaces.
