Summer is here!
Parents:
Learning doesn’t end in the summer. Having adventures and experiencing new things builds background knowledge, supports language development and builds confidence and independence in children. Sometimes it is hard to know what kinds of activities to try with your kiddo that has a disability:
If your kiddo gets over stimulated, or crowds and noise are hard- try these sensory friendly options:
WOW Children’s museum: https://wowchildrensmuseum.org/visit/sensory-friendly-playtime/
Sunday, June 12th at 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Sunday July 24th at 10:00am-12:00pm
AMC sensory friendly movies- we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down https://www.amctheatres.com/programs/sensory-friendly-films
Denver Botanic Gardens- Sensory Friendly mornings

Lone Tree Arts Center: https://www.lonetreeartscenter.org/sensoryfriendly
If your kiddo wants to get outdoors but you aren’t sure how to make it work check out the National Sports Center for the Disabled. We have an award winning program here in Colorado- families can learn to hike, sail, raft, kayak, camp, horseback ride, and more. EVERY TYPE OF DISABILITY IS ACCEPTED.
There is a really neat family kayaking opportunity at Bar Lake coming soon- https://nscd.org/program/nscd-canoe-and-kayak-academy/?season=
